Radwanska Defeats Kirilenko to Reach First Career Major Semifinal

In a match that saw extended rain delays and a mid-match court switch, World No. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska prevailed, defeating World No. 19 Maria Kirilenko, 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, to reach her first career Major semifinal at Wimbledon.

Radwanska had reached five Major quarterfinals, including at Wimbledon in 2008 and 2009, but lost in the second round last year.

Radwanska weathered Kirilenko’s nine aces and 52 winners, managing to win 44% of Kirilenko’s service points. Though Radwanska had only 36 winners, she had just 22 unforced errors to Kirilenko’s 30.

Radwanska will face World No. 8 Angelique Kerber in the semifinals.
