Report: Novak Djokovic Sawed Racquets After Olympics Loss
According to Vesti Online, Vlade Divac, the head of the Serbian Olympic Committee, said that Novak Djokovic was so distraught after failing to medal at the 2012 Olympics that he cut up his racquets with a saw after the Games, and apologized to Divac personally.
Divac said, “I never saw anyone have such energy to fight for a medal for Serbia. It is contagious. After the match I came to [Djokovic]. You know what he was doing? He was so miserable, he was cutting up his racquets with a saw. That is not someone who doesn’t care about the result. His main goals were Roland Garros and the Olympic Games. He said, ‘Vlade, I’m sorry.’ I told him, ‘You don’t have to apologize for anything, you’re a champion and always will be.'”
