Wozniacki Defeats Kanepi to Take Seoul Title

World No. 11 Caroline Wozniacki beat 16th-ranked Kaia Kanepi in a commanding fashion to win the Seoul title,  6-1, 6-0.

At 4-1 in the first set, Kanepi had four break chances to get back into the match. But Wozniacki held her off, holding for 5-1, and from there, Kanepi failed to win a single game as she hit error after error. The consistent Wozniacki played more aggressively than usual, looking far removed from her summer form, where a knee injury hampered her in New Haven and New York.

The Seoul title is Wozniacki’s first title in more than a year, her last one coming in 2011 in New Haven. Though she will not move back into the top 10, she closed the gap between herself and the 10th-ranked Marion Bartoli.

Kanepi will move up one spot to World No. 15 when the new WTA rankings are released.
