Daily Dispatch: Toni Nadal to Hold Press Conference on Wednesday

World No. 4 Rafael Nadal’s uncle and coach Toni Nadal will hold a press conference on Wednesday. Presumably, he will answer questions about Nadal’s injury status, and about a timetable for his nephew’s return to the ATP Tour.

David Kane has a feature on Nadia Petrova’s career resurgence for World Tennis Magazine.

Sara Errani will need 15-20 days’ rest for the quad injury that forced her to retire in her first round match against Camila Giorgi in Beijing. However, she should be ready to compete in Istanbul.

Maria Sharapova interviewed herself for her website, which, believe it or not, she’s done before. The intrepid reporter’s hardball questions for herself included inquiries about her tastes in coffee, music, and fashion.

The delightful World No. 39 Hsieh Su-Wei, who beat Laura Robson in the Guangzhou final to pick up her second title of 2012, blogged for ChinaDaily.com on her experiences in Beijing:

I was very surprised that Laura Robson the runner up in Guangzhou defeated Li Na in the US Open. No offense, but I was like “oh, are you kidding me? How did that happen?”

I was really shocked, but I have to admit (Robson) is a genius. All the left-handers are geniuses. She improved her serve a lot and is going to be a tough opponent very soon.

World No. 10 Juan Monaco won the day on Facebook with his status update: “Thanks to my fellow japaneses for the support!”

Props to newly-crowned Slam champion Andy Murray for his much-needed haircut and this flattering Adidas kit. He cleans up well.
