Radwanska Dispatches Kvitova in Straight Sets in Istanbul
World No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska dispatched World No. 6 Petra Kvitova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, in the opening round-robin match at the WTA Championships in Istanbul.
Hitting 41 unforced errors, Kvitova struggled against the more consistent Radwanska, who hit just five unforced errors throughout the match. Kvitova also struggled on serve, getting broken six times.
The defending champion Kvitova had won 29 straight matches on indoor hard courts.
Kvitova and Radwanska share the White round-robin Group with World No. 2 Maria Sharapova and World No. 7 Sara Errani, who will face off after a Red Group match between World No. 3 Serena Williams and World No. 5 Angelique Kerber.
The other two Red Group participants, World No. 8 Na Li and World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka, will begin their WTA Championships campaign tomorrow.
