Petkovic Retires at Hopman Cup with Knee Injury
World No. 126 Andrea Petkovic retired from her Hopman Cup match against Ashleigh Barty with a right knee injury.
After taking the first set, 6-4, over the 16-year-old Aussie, Petkovic called for the trainer to look at her knee. After getting her knee heavily taped, the German decided to retire, in tears.
Petkovic has had recurring trouble with her right knee. In 2008, she had knee surgery to repair a torn ACL, and in 2011 she tore the meniscus in the same knee.
